[00:01:03] And today we're going to talk about something I actually have been thinking a lot about
[00:01:08] and I wanted to share my experience with you as it relates to selling jewelry
[00:01:15] in an antique mall.
[00:01:17] Now I have gotten a couple of questions about this, especially when I first made
[00:01:21] the decision to sell my jewelry in an antique mall and that was last year.
[00:01:27] And it's definitely been something that has taught me a lot.
[00:01:32] It has given me another unique perspective as it relates to being able to find people
[00:01:41] who want to buy the type of jewelry that I sell, that we sell, or that we plan to sell.
[00:01:48] Alright, so that's what we're going to cover in today's episode.
[00:01:52] And of course I always like to remind you that if you enjoy this podcast and if you
[00:01:58] would like to keep in touch with me on a weekly basis, I invite you to join the

[00:02:14] I also share jewelry news as it relates to selling jewelry, reselling jewelry, or

[00:02:27] Now when you sign up for the newsletter, I will give you access to my personal list

[00:02:42] the website and that is JewelryResellersPodcast.com.
[00:02:47] I will also have a link for you in the show notes.
[00:02:52] Okay, let's get back to today's topic.
[00:02:55] Now we are talking about selling jewelry in antique malls.
[00:02:59] Now when I first thought about this, because I've been an antique mall shopper for years,
[00:03:05] I love antiques, vintage collectibles, all of that stuff.
[00:03:11] But of course as I moved into being a jewelry reseller, I would actually source from antique
[00:03:19] malls from time to time.
[00:03:20] Now not always because sometimes the pricing of the items just doesn't work, but sometimes
[00:03:26] you can find some really good deals and it's a really great way to see all kinds
[00:03:33] of different jewelry.
[00:03:37] And so I guess it's kind of a educational opportunity for you as well.
[00:03:45] But when you think about it, selling jewelry in an antique mall can be very lucrative,
[00:03:49] especially if you have unique pieces, if you have stuff that's different or maybe
[00:03:58] you just have things that are rare, super attractive.
[00:04:02] Maybe you have a lot of variety, whatever the case may be.
[00:04:07] But antique malls attract a variety of shoppers and buyers who are looking for
[00:04:12] something unique either for their own personal collection or maybe for gifts or whatever
[00:04:18] the case may be.
[00:04:20] So I think antique malls definitely needs to be something that you consider when you
[00:04:28] are thinking about more ways to sell your jewelry.
[00:04:33] But selling jewelry in an antique mall does have its own set of challenges, but
[00:04:40] its own set of good points as well and that's what we're going to cover today.
[00:04:47] When you think about antique mall selling, not just for jewelry but anything,
[00:04:52] it's going to require a blend of good merchandising practices.
[00:04:57] You also have to get good at customer engagement and we talk about that a lot on
[00:05:01] the podcast.
[00:05:03] And you also need to have a very deep understanding of your products and the
[00:05:08] market.
[00:05:10] All right.
[00:05:10] So you also want to learn how to set up your items in an attractive and engaging
[00:05:17] way.
[00:05:17] You want to get the pricing right because sometimes the antique mall will kind of
[00:05:23] set the tone for what you can charge depending on what it is that you're
[00:05:27] selling.
[00:05:27] At least that's what I have learned.
[00:05:30] And so depending on the antique malls customer buyer base, you'll have to
[00:05:36] figure that out and it can be very unique depending on what antique mall
[00:05:40] you're at and especially if you're new in an antique mall.
[00:05:46] Like you still may not know exactly how everything works or how frequently
[00:05:50] you're going to make sales and all that stuff.
[00:05:53] All right.
[00:05:53] So let's get into some of my best tips and tricks to help you succeed
[00:05:57] in selling jewelry in antique malls.
[00:06:01] And I have a lot of points here.
[00:06:04] So some of these things are things that I have thought about.
[00:06:10] A lot of it is from my own experience.
[00:06:13] So you may have a different experience too.
[00:06:15] You know, if you've sold in antique malls before not just jewelry but
[00:06:19] anything, you know that it's a very different kind of culture, different type
[00:06:25] of environment.
[00:06:27] And so those are all things that we have to think about if we plan on doing
[00:06:32] this or even if we are considering doing this.
[00:06:35] All right.
[00:06:35] So point number one that I have is it's very important for you to select
[00:06:39] the right antique mall for you.
[00:06:43] All right.
[00:06:43] Because I know where I live, there's a bunch of antique malls in the
[00:06:48] area and some of them are more favorable for jewelry and then some
[00:06:55] of them are not.
[00:06:56] So you want to make sure that you visit the antique mall before you
[00:07:00] actually decide to commit to anything because the location and the type of
[00:07:06] antique mall is extremely important.
[00:07:10] You want to choose an antique mall that is well located and that has
[00:07:17] really good foot traffic because what I've learned too is that a lot of
[00:07:20] antique malls really don't advertise that heavily.
[00:07:24] I mean, they may throw an ad up here and there, but for the most part,
[00:07:27] it's not like they're running huge ads or commercials or social media
[00:07:32] campaigns or anything like that.
[00:07:34] But you want to, if possible, you want to find antique malls that are near
[00:07:38] tourist attractions or in busy shopping areas because those tend to attract a
[00:07:44] lot more customers.
[00:07:46] You also want to learn what the demographics are for that particular
[00:07:51] antique mall.
[00:07:53] You know, ensure that the customer base aligns with the type of jewelry
[00:07:57] that you are selling or that you are planning to sell.
[00:08:00] You know, for example, higher end antique jewelry might sell better in an
[00:08:05] antique mall in an upscale neighborhood.
[00:08:08] Now, that's not always the case, but it's something to think about, right?
[00:08:13] It's something to think about.
[00:08:16] You also want to pay attention to the vendor's reputation.
[00:08:22] You know, you want to choose antique malls known for quality vendors.
[00:08:29] And sometimes this can be a little tricky because antique malls, you
[00:08:35] know, they're in the business to make money too.
[00:08:37] And sometimes they will just let anybody sign up and sell anything.
[00:08:42] And that may or may not attract the right customers.
[00:08:48] So you want to look at who else is renting space in that antique mall.
[00:08:52] And are these vendors coinciding or at least kind of offering enough
[00:09:01] diversity as it relates to what they're selling to attract serious
[00:09:06] buyers?
[00:09:08] Because yes, that's what we're trying to do, right?
[00:09:11] We are trying to attract serious buyers so we can make the sales.
[00:09:17] We can make serious sales.
[00:09:19] All right.
[00:09:20] The other thing I want you to think about is to really know and understand your
[00:09:23] market.
[00:09:25] This could take a little bit of research or it could just be asking
[00:09:28] questions of maybe some of the employees of the antique mall that
[00:09:32] you're considering or having conversations with the other vendors.
[00:09:36] Now, that is what I did when I was looking around and trying to figure
[00:09:41] out what antique mall I wanted to sell my jewelry in.
[00:09:45] So I talked to some of the other vendors.
[00:09:47] Now, they were not jewelry sellers, but they gave me a good pulse about what to
[00:09:51] expect as it relates to the type of shoppers that come in to that
[00:09:55] particular antique mall.
[00:09:58] So you want to understand the types of customers that frequent that
[00:10:01] antique mall.
[00:10:02] Like I said, are they looking for higher end pieces?
[00:10:05] Are they looking for vintage bargains or maybe something unique and odd?
[00:10:10] Right?
[00:10:10] These are all things that you want to keep in mind when you are
[00:10:14] choosing the antique mall for you.
[00:10:17] We also want to pay attention to the target audience.
[00:10:21] Now, this is something you can probably adjust as time goes on.
[00:10:24] You can tailor your items to appeal to a specific demographic that visits
[00:10:30] that mall.
[00:10:31] You know, high quality vintage jewelry pieces might appeal to more
[00:10:35] collectors and maybe the more affordable costume jewelry might attract
[00:10:41] casual buyers.
[00:10:42] And you can definitely offer different types of jewelry.
[00:10:48] So maybe you can attract both types of buyers as it relates to what you're
[00:10:53] selling.
[00:10:56] All right, number two, you want to make sure you are clear and you
[00:10:59] understand the antique malls policies and fees.
[00:11:04] All right?
[00:11:04] So if you are not familiar with how antique malls work or how they charge,
[00:11:12] from what I have experienced, the antique mall will charge you a fee for
[00:11:17] the space or for the glass case, whatever it is that you are renting.
[00:11:22] They will charge you a rental fee for the space.
[00:11:26] They will also charge you a commission for when something sells.
[00:11:33] And a lot of people get tripped up about this because they say, well, if I'm
[00:11:38] already paying for the space, why do I have to pay an additional fee when
[00:11:44] something sells?
[00:11:45] Well, you have to understand too that the antique mall is handling the
[00:11:51] payment processing for you.
[00:11:54] The other thing is that you don't have to be there to make sales.
[00:11:57] Right?
[00:11:58] The antique mall employees will package the item, bring up the item,
[00:12:04] collect payment all on your behalf.
[00:12:06] So you don't have to be there.
[00:12:08] OK?
[00:12:09] So let's understand that there is a rental fee.
[00:12:12] Understand the cost of renting a booth or space in the antique mall.
[00:12:16] This can vary depending on the size and the location within the antique mall
[00:12:21] itself.
[00:12:22] So I know for the antique mall that I was at, you would pay more for spaces
[00:12:29] that are in the high traffic areas as it relates to the antique mall.
[00:12:34] And then if you had a space that was more towards the back or maybe not as
[00:12:38] heavily traveled with foot traffic, some of those spaces may be a little
[00:12:44] bit cheaper as it relates to the space fee or the space rental.
[00:12:50] OK, so just keep that in mind.
[00:12:53] Now I talked about commission rates.
[00:12:55] Now not all antique malls do this, but from what I've learned, more and
[00:13:00] more of them, if not all of them are doing it, at least in my area,
[00:13:04] they do take a commission, which is a percentage of your sales.
[00:13:08] And make sure you know and understand what these rates are because they will
[00:13:12] affect your pricing strategy.
[00:13:14] We will talk about that too.
[00:13:17] Now, most antique malls will require some type of a contract.
[00:13:24] Usually it's about six months, others it's a year.
[00:13:28] So you want to make sure you review the lease or the rental agreement.
[00:13:32] You want to review that very carefully, including any rules about
[00:13:38] staffing for your booth, certain hours that you're allowed in to maybe
[00:13:44] restock or whatever, because some antique malls have a, what they like to call,
[00:13:49] I guess, a vendor's hour, which is they open the antique mall about an hour
[00:13:55] before they open it to the public.
[00:13:57] So that way vendors can come in and restock, work their booth and whatever.
[00:14:01] Not all of them have that, but a lot of them do.
[00:14:04] And you also want to make sure you pay attention to what type of
[00:14:07] merchandise you can sell.
[00:14:08] Now, you probably won't have any trouble with that as it relates to jewelry.
[00:14:13] But I know in some antique malls, they are very picky about, you know, things
[00:14:18] that are like weapons, firearms, that type of stuff.
[00:14:21] So like I said, I don't think you have to worry about that with jewelry.
[00:14:25] Almost every antique mall I've ever been in has jewelry.
[00:14:30] But if there are any type of restrictions, you do want to be aware of
[00:14:34] that so you don't, you know, make a mistake or inadvertently put something
[00:14:39] out for sale that you shouldn't.
[00:14:42] Okay.
[00:14:43] So let's move on to my third point.
[00:14:45] And that is you want to make sure you prepare your jewelry
[00:14:49] for sale in the antique mall.
[00:14:52] Now this doesn't mean you have to go overboard, right?
[00:14:55] You don't need to have anything spectacular.
[00:14:58] Although I have seen, I have seen some amazing jewelry displays
[00:15:03] in antique malls.
[00:15:04] People really get into it.
[00:15:06] Sometimes they make all these little, what do you call them?
[00:15:09] Like vignettes where it's like a little setup and a little scene.
[00:15:13] I mean, you can do all of that and we'll talk about how to
[00:15:15] display your jewelry.
[00:15:17] But preparing your jewelry for sale, sometimes that could be a job
[00:15:22] in and of itself, all right?
[00:15:24] Cause we have to maybe clean the jewelry, polish it, whatever, you
[00:15:29] know, just ensure that all the jewelry is clean and that it is in
[00:15:33] perfect working order.
[00:15:36] Um, if there are any repairs that need to be made, make sure you do
[00:15:40] that before you put a piece out because presentation really is the
[00:15:44] key in making sales, especially for the high value antique rare jewelry items.
[00:15:53] All right.
[00:15:53] The other thing you're going to need to do to prepare your
[00:15:55] jewelry for sale is pricing.
[00:15:58] And, whoo, this can be, this can be a very tedious process because you have
[00:16:04] to think about what you're going to price your jewelry pieces at.
[00:16:09] Then you have to make sure you tag everything because the antique malls
[00:16:15] are very picky about every item being tagged and you don't want someone to
[00:16:20] want to buy your, buy your necklace and then you don't have a tag on it
[00:16:24] or it falls off or whatever the case may be.
[00:16:27] And so your item cannot be sold because the antique mall employee has no idea
[00:16:33] what you want to charge for that piece or whatever.
[00:16:38] All right.
[00:16:38] So make sure you tag your items properly and you can do this a variety
[00:16:42] of ways, you can use those little hang tags that you can buy.
[00:16:46] Uh, I've done that.
[00:16:47] You can also use index cards, you know, depending on how,
[00:16:52] how big the pieces, uh, I've used index cards and I've cut them
[00:16:56] down, you know, especially when you're selling sets or something like that.
[00:17:00] And they come in like a jewelry box or whatever, you know, you
[00:17:03] can get really creative.
[00:17:05] Uh, some antique malls are very picky about the tagging of what,
[00:17:08] you know, how big it can be and what type of tag you can use.
[00:17:11] But I was really lucky in that my antique mall didn't care as long
[00:17:15] as the item was tagged and it clearly had your dealer number
[00:17:20] or your vendor number on there.
[00:17:22] So they knew, you know, who, who, who the piece belonged to, you know,
[00:17:29] and it had the price and everything like that.
[00:17:32] Now you want to price your items competitively taking into account
[00:17:36] the mall's customer base, like we talked about earlier and what
[00:17:40] similar items are priced at in the same venue.
[00:17:45] And you want to consider this because this happens more often than you think,
[00:17:52] but you want to give yourself a little cushion or a little buffer to negotiate.
[00:17:57] Because surprisingly, or maybe not surprisingly, haggling is very common
[00:18:04] in antique malls or in antique mall settings, people will, especially
[00:18:09] if you're working your booth and, and a buyer comes up and they,
[00:18:13] they see something and they want to buy it, they will ask you,
[00:18:16] Oh, I see you're asking a hundred dollars for this.
[00:18:19] Would you consider taking 75 or 80 or whatever, or would you consider
[00:18:24] giving me a 20% discount if I buy more than one piece, you know, whatever,
[00:18:28] whatever type of deal they're looking for.
[00:18:31] So you want to make sure you price your items to kind of give you
[00:18:35] a little bit of negotiation room.
[00:18:37] Because like I said, people will ask and a lot of times the antique mall,
[00:18:43] at least the one I was at, they asked for your phone number.
[00:18:48] That way, if you're not there and a customer wants to negotiate,
[00:18:52] they will call you and say, Hey, I've got a buyer in here.
[00:18:55] They want to buy a lot of items.
[00:18:56] Would you consider giving them a discount because they're
[00:18:58] buying 10 pieces or whatever?
[00:19:01] And I'll say yes, of course I'll give them 20% off if they're
[00:19:04] buying 20, you know, 20 pieces or whatever the case may be.
[00:19:08] All right.
[00:19:08] So make sure you think about that as it relates to your pricing strategy.
[00:19:14] The other thing you want to make sure you have is an inventory
[00:19:17] list, keep a detailed inventory list with descriptions, prices, and any,
[00:19:22] any information as it relates to your jewelry pieces.
[00:19:25] I can't tell you how important this is because sometimes you will sell
[00:19:29] something and or you'll sell a lot of some things and you will not.
[00:19:34] Like the antique mall doesn't necessarily track everything for you.
[00:19:39] And so sometimes you'll, you won't know what's sold, right?
[00:19:43] Like you'll just, you'll just say, Oh wow.
[00:19:45] I sold 18 pieces this week.
[00:19:49] And then you won't like, honestly, you will not remember what everything was.
[00:19:53] So what I did is I have a notebook and I put down the SKU number because
[00:19:59] everything had a SKU number.
[00:20:01] And then I also had a description of what the item was.
[00:20:05] So if it was a bracelet, if it was a necklace, earrings, whatever,
[00:20:08] and then I also would put the price that I was asking for, and then the
[00:20:15] price that actually sold at.
[00:20:18] Okay.
[00:20:18] Cause like I said, sometimes you can negotiate discounts or whatever.
[00:20:21] And at my antique mall, we were able to offer vendor discounts, not to
[00:20:28] the public, but to other vendors who wanted to shop.
[00:20:31] And that was also a nice thing because as a vendor, you could shop
[00:20:35] at a discount with other vendors.
[00:20:37] So I don't know if, if every antique mall does that, but the one I was in,
[00:20:41] they did that and it was really nice.
[00:20:45] Okay.
[00:20:46] So like I said, keep an inventory list, keep track of everything, because
[00:20:50] this will help in managing your stock.
[00:20:52] And it also provides valuable information to you later on when you're trying
[00:20:58] to figure out what to restock with and what to put in your booth or put
[00:21:02] in your case, because then you'll have a good idea of what, you know,
[00:21:06] what is selling and what the buyers are looking for.
[00:21:11] Okay.
[00:21:12] Let's get into point number four.
[00:21:13] And this is my favorite, probably my favorite part of selling in an
[00:21:17] antique mall, and that is displaying your jewelry attractively.
[00:21:22] Yes.
[00:21:22] Like I said, you can have a lot of fun with this.
[00:21:25] I have seen some elaborate displays and I have also seen people just
[00:21:31] literally throwing their jewelry pieces on a shelf and hoping for the best.
[00:21:37] But you want to make your jewelry very inviting.
[00:21:43] Like somebody has to get a really good idea of how this piece is going
[00:21:48] to look if, if they're wearing it or maybe if they're presenting it as a
[00:21:53] gift or maybe just having fun and showcasing the jewelry in a, in a
[00:21:59] really unique and eye catching way.
[00:22:02] All right.
[00:22:02] So when I sold my jewelry, I rented a glass case because I knew that
[00:22:10] I did not want to risk anything getting stolen or anything getting lost or
[00:22:16] broken because people just are handling it.
[00:22:18] Right?
[00:22:19] So, so depending on how you're selling your jewelry, if you're
[00:22:23] doing it in a glass case, glass case, you may be limited as it relates
[00:22:28] to how much space you have to display your jewelry, but if you're selling
[00:22:32] in a booth, then you probably could put a whole table up and then
[00:22:38] have some props or whatever.
[00:22:41] Cause I've seen that too.
[00:22:42] Right?
[00:22:43] So it just depends on how much space you're working with.
[00:22:46] All right.
[00:22:47] Now lighting is really good too.
[00:22:49] It's something that you want to think about.
[00:22:51] Of course you don't have to have professional lights set up in your
[00:22:55] space, but I have seen people use those little, you know, those lighted
[00:23:02] turntables, I've seen people use that to display their jewelry, especially
[00:23:07] if it's something really beautiful or really sparkly.
[00:23:11] I've also seen people use lamps, you know, strategically placed lamps
[00:23:18] as it relates to their jewelry and the lamp kind of gives a little bit
[00:23:22] more, I guess, directed lighting to the jewelry pieces.
[00:23:27] Now you don't have to do that, but you know, I'm just throwing out
[00:23:30] some creative ideas that I've seen.
[00:23:34] Now, the other thing you also want to think about too is having
[00:23:37] different levels of display, right?
[00:23:42] So you don't want everything just flat on the surface.
[00:23:47] If you can use risers, blocks, stands, shelving, anything, anything to make
[00:23:57] the jewelry visually appealing.
[00:24:00] All right.
[00:24:00] And this is fun for me because I like to, I just like to
[00:24:05] have my stuff look different.
[00:24:06] I don't want my, my space or my case to look like everyone else's.
[00:24:11] So I really try to make it different and not only that, but it helps
[00:24:14] people remember your space or remember your case because they say, oh, this is,
[00:24:20] this is the one that has that really unique mannequin or whatever.
[00:24:26] Okay.
[00:24:26] So use vintage props and elegant stands and even theatrical setups, you know,
[00:24:33] depending on what you have access to and what you have space for.
[00:24:38] Right.
[00:24:38] And you don't have to spend a lot of money on this.
[00:24:41] I found a lot of my props and stands at Goodwill, even things that you wouldn't
[00:24:47] even think could be used as a stand or anything like I, I used bowls,
[00:24:54] like really fun bowls that were colorful.
[00:24:57] I used a spice rack.
[00:25:00] What else have I used?
[00:25:02] I used little stands that I had found wherever.
[00:25:07] So like I said, you just have fun with it and get really, really creative.
[00:25:13] Now the other thing I'm going to throw out there too is you want to make sure
[00:25:17] you organize your jewelry really well.
[00:25:22] What I learned from my own experience is that organizing by color seems to
[00:25:28] draw in a lot of attention, but that doesn't always work, you know,
[00:25:32] depending on what kind of jewelry you have.
[00:25:35] But you could sort it or display it and organize it by the type of jewelry.
[00:25:41] In other words, all necklaces.
[00:25:43] You can also display it by era.
[00:25:46] You know, for example, you have all art deco or all rhinestone
[00:25:50] jewelry in one area or style.
[00:25:54] You can even display it in sets.
[00:25:57] Like maybe you have a necklace and some earrings and a bracelet
[00:26:01] that could go together.
[00:26:03] You know, maybe it's not an actual set from one designer, but maybe the colors
[00:26:07] or the style really looks good.
[00:26:09] And so you give your customers an idea of how they can style and wear these
[00:26:14] pieces either together, together or separately.
[00:26:19] All right.
[00:26:20] So think about that.
[00:26:21] And like I said, this is the most fun part of selling in an antique mall
[00:26:24] for me because you get to really be creative and have fun.
[00:26:30] Now I mentioned this earlier.
[00:26:31] You want to offer a variety of items as it relates to your jewelry
[00:26:36] and not only the type, but also different price points, because people will
[00:26:41] come in and they'll say, oh, I have, you know, twenty dollars to spend.
[00:26:45] What can you you know, what do you have or what can you show me
[00:26:48] that is twenty dollars or less?
[00:26:50] People will ask you that.
[00:26:52] All right. And you can even put little signs here, you know,
[00:26:55] ten dollar bracelets or, you know, twenty dollars
[00:26:59] and under jewelry pieces, you know, because people love to get a deal
[00:27:04] and they love to really find something that fits within their budget.
[00:27:10] OK, so so do something like that and offer that.
[00:27:13] Because like I said, you will have people come in there asking for
[00:27:17] a specific a specific price point as it relates to jewelry.
[00:27:22] All right. You also want to have unique pieces.
[00:27:24] I've mentioned that to, you know, some standout pieces
[00:27:28] that really can draw people in.
[00:27:29] And I like to call these those showstopper pieces,
[00:27:34] even though not everybody is looking for that.
[00:27:37] The fact that it will just draw attention to your space,
[00:27:41] to your booth or to your case, whatever.
[00:27:43] People love to see stuff like that,
[00:27:46] something unique that they just don't see every day.
[00:27:51] All right. Let's move on to point number five, and that is pricing.
[00:27:56] Now, again, this could be a little challenging,
[00:27:59] depending on exactly what you're selling
[00:28:02] and the type of.
[00:28:06] Buyer that you are catering to,
[00:28:08] but you always want to be competitive in your pricing
[00:28:11] and don't be afraid to run sales from time to time.
[00:28:13] Now, I know at my antique mall, they actually encourage you
[00:28:17] to run a sale every week.
[00:28:18] You know, it could be 10, 10 percent off.
[00:28:21] Buy one, get one free.
[00:28:22] Any type of something to really make people stop
[00:28:26] and look at your items.
[00:28:28] All right. So you want to price your items competitively.
[00:28:31] You want to research what similar items are selling for
[00:28:34] in the same mall and online.
[00:28:37] And you want to make sure that you have clear pricing
[00:28:41] so you avoid any confusion.
[00:28:42] Make sure that people can read your tags
[00:28:45] if you are writing them out by hand.
[00:28:47] And sometimes you can have really.
[00:28:49] Unique tags like they don't just have to be white tags.
[00:28:53] I've seen people use really creative stickers
[00:28:56] or colorful tags that maybe they had printed or whatever.
[00:29:00] You don't have to do that.
[00:29:01] But again, anything to get more attention
[00:29:04] and more eyes on your products or on your items
[00:29:07] is a good idea.
[00:29:11] All right. Point number six.
[00:29:14] And this is where I think a lot of people
[00:29:17] get intimidated.
[00:29:18] And that's learning how to market your presence
[00:29:22] in the antique mall.
[00:29:25] Now, marketing
[00:29:29] for an antique mall is very different than marketing
[00:29:32] your business, your jewelry reselling business online.
[00:29:38] So there's two ways you can do this.
[00:29:40] You can market your presence within the store,
[00:29:42] within the space.
[00:29:43] Some antique malls are very different.
[00:29:46] Some antique malls allow you to pay a little extra
[00:29:49] to be mentioned in maybe the ads that they run.
[00:29:54] You also want to think about creative signage
[00:29:56] as it relates to your booth or your space.
[00:30:00] Now, my antique mall, they didn't have a problem with that.
[00:30:02] You could have whatever kind of sign you wanted
[00:30:05] on your space or in your booth.
[00:30:06] It could be printed.
[00:30:08] It could be handwritten.
[00:30:09] They didn't care as long as you, you know,
[00:30:12] kept it to within the confines of your particular space.
[00:30:17] You know, obviously they didn't want you
[00:30:19] putting signs in your neighbor's booth or anything like that.
[00:30:23] But really making attractive signs again
[00:30:27] to have people notice your items.
[00:30:31] And you can do this however you want, right?
[00:30:34] Well, again, depending on the rules of the antique mall,
[00:30:37] but you want to have some attractive signage
[00:30:39] that includes your business name,
[00:30:41] maybe a brief tagline about your offerings.
[00:30:44] You know, for example, you could say,
[00:30:47] like when I sold in my antique mall,
[00:30:50] I was known as the jewelry,
[00:30:54] the jewelry bag lady because I sold jewelry bags.
[00:30:57] And that's, I mean, I didn't only sell jewelry bags,
[00:31:00] but that was one of the things
[00:31:01] that I became known for very quickly
[00:31:03] because nobody else in the antique mall was selling them.
[00:31:06] So I became known as the jewelry bag lady,
[00:31:08] and I didn't put that on a sign,
[00:31:10] but I put get your jewelry bags here
[00:31:13] or jewelry bags on sale now.
[00:31:15] You know, I kind of changed it up depending on, you know,
[00:31:19] what I felt like, what kind of mood I was in.
[00:31:21] But just things like that,
[00:31:22] because people will start to know you
[00:31:24] for the type of items or inventory that you carry.
[00:31:29] You know, you can also let people know
[00:31:33] that you're a vintage and antique jewelry specialist
[00:31:36] or vintage jewelry expert or whatever.
[00:31:40] All right, so you can have fun with this too.
[00:31:43] Now you also want to consider running promotions.
[00:31:46] Again, I talked about this.
[00:31:49] My antique mall really encouraged people
[00:31:51] to have promotions or to run sales,
[00:31:54] offer discounts, specials, whatever,
[00:31:57] because people will come in and they ask,
[00:32:00] people will come in and they ask,
[00:32:02] like at my antique mall, people would come in,
[00:32:04] they'd go to the front and they'd say,
[00:32:06] what booths are running sales right now?
[00:32:11] And they would obviously have a list of those up front
[00:32:14] and they would say,
[00:32:15] booth number 25, booth number 63,
[00:32:18] booth number 99 are all running specials.
[00:32:21] And so people would make sure to stop at those booths
[00:32:24] because they wanted to see what the specials were,
[00:32:27] what the sales were, right?
[00:32:30] So people do come in and they specifically look
[00:32:33] for sales or promotions.
[00:32:37] Okay, so consider doing that at least once a month.
[00:32:43] I think that's what I did.
[00:32:44] I had something going every month
[00:32:46] and so I would change it every month
[00:32:48] and yeah, because that's what was easiest for me,
[00:32:52] but some people change them up every week
[00:32:54] or some people change them up,
[00:32:57] they run a sale every season or every holiday,
[00:33:00] whatever, whatever will work for you.
[00:33:04] Now the other way to market your presence
[00:33:06] is to network with other vendors.
[00:33:08] Yeah, this actually does work.
[00:33:11] So let's say you're the jewelry girl in your antique mall
[00:33:15] and maybe there is a vintage clothing seller
[00:33:18] in the antique mall as well.
[00:33:19] Well, you guys could cross promote each other.
[00:33:23] The clothing seller could say,
[00:33:25] hey, if you would like to find some beautiful accessories
[00:33:29] to go with this dress or with some of the clothing items
[00:33:33] you bought today, make sure you check out my friend
[00:33:35] in booth number 75.
[00:33:36] And then you're in booth number 75 and you say,
[00:33:39] hey, if you'd like to find a gorgeous outfit
[00:33:42] to wear with this beautiful necklace,
[00:33:45] check out my vintage clothing friend in booth number 27
[00:33:51] or whatever.
[00:33:52] I have seen people do that and surprisingly it does work.
[00:33:56] People like the fact that vendors are nice
[00:33:59] and they are working together and it's not a hostile environment
[00:34:04] because I've heard stories about that kind of stuff happening too.
[00:34:07] But like I said, you can really network with the other vendors
[00:34:11] and you guys can have a lot of fun or maybe
[00:34:14] you can run a sale or promotion together.
[00:34:18] If you buy something from both of our booths,
[00:34:21] we will give you 25% off or something like that.
[00:34:24] So again, it's another opportunity for you to network,
[00:34:28] to collaborate and to connect and make more sales.
[00:34:36] Number seven, and this is all about engaging with customers.
[00:34:41] Now some antique malls have rules that you have to work
[00:34:48] so many hours a month, maybe so many hours per week.
[00:34:51] When I say work, in other words, they want you to be
[00:34:55] in your booth available for customers.
[00:34:58] So when they come in, you can answer questions,
[00:35:01] provide a really nice selling experience, whatever.
[00:35:08] My antique mall, I think they had a requirement of
[00:35:13] I think it was two or four hours per month.
[00:35:17] And so if you're coming in regularly to restock your booth
[00:35:22] or your space, that's usually not a problem
[00:35:26] because you're going to be there that amount of time anyway,
[00:35:29] restocking, rearranging, fixing things, maybe cleaning up or whatever.
[00:35:35] So don't worry about that because you're probably going to be
[00:35:39] in the antique mall anyway, just doing the stuff that needs to be done
[00:35:45] as it relates to managing and maintaining a space.
[00:35:51] But you do want to engage with customers because you want to provide
[00:35:54] excellent customer service and an excellent buyer experience, of course.
[00:35:59] And you want to be knowledgeable and ready to answer questions
[00:36:02] about your jewelry's history, maybe how to take care of it,
[00:36:05] maybe the value or whatever.
[00:36:09] So if you're not staffing the booth yourself,
[00:36:12] make sure that the people who do staff your booth,
[00:36:15] if you do have employees or something like that,
[00:36:18] make sure that they are well-trained and knowledgeable as well.
[00:36:22] And like I said, sometimes you can put little information cards
[00:36:27] next to some of your pieces so that way,
[00:36:31] buyers get a little bit of information as it relates to the jewelry
[00:36:35] or whatever it is that you're selling.
[00:36:37] Now, you also want to follow up and encourage customers or buyers,
[00:36:45] potential buyers who may have been interested in buying something
[00:36:49] or maybe they bought a lot of pieces from you
[00:36:52] and they're just eagerly waiting for you to put some new stuff out
[00:36:55] so they can come look at it and buy it.
[00:36:58] So you may want to have, and I've seen other vendors do this
[00:37:04] where they have a little notebook set up in their booth.
[00:37:09] So that way, people can leave their email, phone number,
[00:37:14] or leave a note to you saying, hey, I'm looking for this
[00:37:20] or if you get any more pieces like this,
[00:37:23] please give me a call or send me an email or whatever.
[00:37:26] So they'll leave a customer notebook in their booth saying,
[00:37:30] hey, if you're interested or if there's something you're looking for,
[00:37:33] leave me a note, leave me your information,
[00:37:35] and I'll make sure I contact you next time I'm in
[00:37:39] or if I get more of these types of pieces.
[00:37:41] Okay? And I think that's a really good idea
[00:37:44] and it's a very creative idea.
[00:37:45] Now, depending on the type of space you have,
[00:37:48] because I had a glass case, I didn't really have the setup to do that,
[00:37:53] but if you have a booth,
[00:37:55] that might be something you want to consider
[00:37:57] and it's a great way to keep in touch with potential buyers and customers
[00:38:01] and also a good way to let people know
[00:38:05] when you have new merchandise in your space.
[00:38:09] All right, now if you have the time,
[00:38:12] you may want to educate customers about the jewelry that you're selling.
[00:38:17] You know, this is kind of like a...
[00:38:20] I guess I want to say if you have the knowledge yourself
[00:38:24] or if this is something that you enjoy doing,
[00:38:26] of course, you don't have to do this.
[00:38:29] But again, the more information you can provide to your buyers,
[00:38:33] the better the experience will be.
[00:38:35] And then it really makes the buyer more comfortable in spending the money
[00:38:41] because at least they're going to be informed
[00:38:43] and they're going to feel confident that they can trust
[00:38:46] that they're getting exactly what it is they want
[00:38:50] or exactly what it is that you say it is or whatever.
[00:38:55] All right, let's move on to the next point, point number eight.
[00:38:58] And this is to continuously evaluate and adapt
[00:39:03] as it relates to what you're selling in the antique mall.
[00:39:06] You want to keep track of your sales.
[00:39:09] What is selling well for you and what just seems to sit and sit.
[00:39:14] Now everybody will go through this
[00:39:15] because not everybody is going to sell everything right away.
[00:39:21] But you will learn that you're going to be able to
[00:39:24] but you will learn as time goes on what sells very quickly
[00:39:30] and what people are looking for.
[00:39:32] And then you'll also learn, you know, oh, maybe I won't
[00:39:36] sell any more of these bracelets or whatever
[00:39:38] because nobody just seems to be interested.
[00:39:41] Okay, and it doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with your items
[00:39:45] or that your items are bad,
[00:39:46] but maybe it's just not a particular fit
[00:39:49] for this particular selling setup.
[00:39:52] All right, so pay attention and adapt
[00:39:56] because you want to adjust your stock to fit customer preferences.
[00:40:01] That's really what you want to make sure you get dialed in as it relates to this.
[00:40:07] Now you also want to evaluate your booth setup
[00:40:10] and make adjustments as it relates to your displays, your arrangements.
[00:40:14] You know, you want to keep it looking fresh.
[00:40:16] You want to keep it looking like there's a plethora of new stuff in there.
[00:40:23] Now, this could be fun too, but it can also be a little bit of a chore,
[00:40:27] especially when you still have a lot of stuff that hasn't quite moved.
[00:40:32] Sometimes you have to get really creative as it relates to your displays.
[00:40:35] Even if it's nothing new in there,
[00:40:38] you want to make sure that you move stuff around
[00:40:40] just so it looks different if you have,
[00:40:43] you know, the same people coming in say every weekend.
[00:40:47] You want to make sure your booth looks different so they can say,
[00:40:49] oh I didn't notice this before or, you know, whatever because that will happen.
[00:40:54] Sometimes you just move an item to a different spot
[00:40:58] and suddenly it will sell in the new spot
[00:41:01] even though it didn't sell at all in the first spot you had it in.
[00:41:05] All right, so these are all things that you have to really experiment with
[00:41:10] and try and see what works and what doesn't.
[00:41:15] All right, point number nine is promotion and deals.
[00:41:17] I talked about that earlier.
[00:41:20] I come from the belief that you should have something running constantly
[00:41:26] at least once a month.
[00:41:27] Maybe it's something you run every month
[00:41:30] and then you change it out every 30 days, whatever the case may be,
[00:41:33] but you always want to have something running
[00:41:35] and it doesn't have to be anything major.
[00:41:36] It could be this month 10% off all necklaces.
[00:41:40] The next month maybe 10% off all earrings, you know, something like that.
[00:41:45] Whatever you feel comfortable with
[00:41:47] and something that's not going to be too difficult for you to manage,
[00:41:51] I believe that you should be running some type of sale promotion or deal continuously
[00:41:56] because it really makes your booth stand out.
[00:42:01] You also want to consider doing that seasonally.
[00:42:04] I talked about that as well.
[00:42:06] Align your promotions or your sales with holidays or local events,
[00:42:10] especially if you expect higher foot traffic.
[00:42:15] Maybe there's something going on
[00:42:17] and so you really want to make sure you capitalize on
[00:42:22] the potential that more people will be seeing your items
[00:42:25] and that will increase the possibility of you making more sales.
[00:42:30] All right, point number 10 is networking.
[00:42:33] I talked about this earlier too.
[00:42:36] You really want to get to know the other vendors.
[00:42:39] You want to, you know, be on good terms with everyone.
[00:42:43] You don't want to, you don't want to, you know,
[00:42:46] get into anything negative as it relates to other vendors
[00:42:50] because unfortunately I've seen that happen too
[00:42:52] where there's vendors that just don't like each other
[00:42:55] and it can just be a little bit of a pain in the ass.
[00:42:59] It can just be a really awkward situation.
[00:43:03] Luckily I haven't had that and I really make a point
[00:43:06] and go out of my way to make sure I don't have that
[00:43:09] because I don't want to have a bad experience.
[00:43:12] While I'm in the antique mall,
[00:43:13] I'm just there trying to make money like everybody else.
[00:43:17] I try to be really respectful, encourage other vendors,
[00:43:21] see if there's ways we can partner up or collab
[00:43:24] like I talked about earlier, you know, whatever.
[00:43:27] I have no problem referring people to other vendors
[00:43:32] if I know they're looking for something
[00:43:35] that I know another vendor carries
[00:43:37] or they may have in stock right now.
[00:43:40] Maybe someone's not looking for jewelry
[00:43:42] but they're looking for vintage Pyrex.
[00:43:44] Well, I have no problem telling you
[00:43:46] the booths that carry that stuff.
[00:43:50] I just hope someone does the same for me.
[00:43:53] If they come across a buyer looking for jewelry,
[00:43:56] I hope that they recommend my space.
[00:44:00] This doesn't have to be something
[00:44:02] that you openly agree on
[00:44:04] but I think it's just really good,
[00:44:08] a good practice to keep people in the antique mall
[00:44:12] even if it's not at your particular booth.
[00:44:14] Okay?
[00:44:17] All right, now one of the big things,
[00:44:19] one of the big things,
[00:44:20] I do have a point written about this.
[00:44:23] This is point number 11 and this is security.
[00:44:29] I'm going to be honest,
[00:44:31] this is something that a lot of people worry about
[00:44:34] and with good reason because yes, it does happen.
[00:44:38] People do steal items from antique malls.
[00:44:41] People do steal not just jewelry but everything,
[00:44:44] you know, especially items that are small
[00:44:47] and or items that have high value.
[00:44:54] I don't want to discourage you
[00:44:59] but this is something that does happen.
[00:45:02] Now, the antique mall that I'm at,
[00:45:04] they have security cameras everywhere
[00:45:07] but still it could happen
[00:45:09] and again, this is one of the reasons
[00:45:10] why I chose to rent a glass case
[00:45:14] because nothing gets stolen out of those
[00:45:17] because they're locked
[00:45:18] and the only way someone can get something out of it
[00:45:21] is if they have an antique mall employee
[00:45:26] come, open the booth,
[00:45:27] they can look at the pieces they want
[00:45:29] and then or I should say the case
[00:45:31] and then they lock it up
[00:45:33] when the person is done looking at
[00:45:34] whatever they're looking at right now.
[00:45:36] Now this, it has its pluses and minuses
[00:45:40] because a lot of people,
[00:45:41] if something is in a glass case
[00:45:43] and maybe they're interested in it
[00:45:45] but if the antique mall staff is busy,
[00:45:48] some people don't want to wait
[00:45:49] for someone to come unlock the case
[00:45:51] or some people will say,
[00:45:52] why I don't want to bother the employees
[00:45:54] so I'm not going to have them
[00:45:56] come open the case for me, right?
[00:45:58] But for me that is what worked
[00:46:02] because I was selling jewelry.
[00:46:05] I did not want to have to worry about pieces
[00:46:07] just mysteriously vanishing, right?
[00:46:11] And some of the pieces are not cheap
[00:46:13] and so I did not want to have to worry
[00:46:16] about pieces getting stolen.
[00:46:17] So for me, a glass case worked
[00:46:19] and I still made sales.
[00:46:21] I still, you know, people still asked
[00:46:24] about the things that I had in the case.
[00:46:27] So if you are selling jewelry,
[00:46:31] I would definitely recommend
[00:46:33] renting a glass case
[00:46:35] instead of a full-on booth
[00:46:37] but some people will rent a full booth
[00:46:39] because they'll sell jewelry
[00:46:41] in addition to other things.
[00:46:43] And you can have little locked cases
[00:46:45] within your booth as well.
[00:46:47] I've seen people do that
[00:46:48] where they have a glass case
[00:46:51] within their booth space
[00:46:52] and that's where they keep their jewelry items
[00:46:55] so they don't just, you know, walk off.
[00:46:59] Again, every antique mall is different.
[00:47:01] I would definitely ask
[00:47:03] the antique mall managers or employees,
[00:47:07] you know, what do they have in place
[00:47:09] to prevent theft, damage, or loss of the items.
[00:47:14] You can also buy insurance
[00:47:16] for your antique mall space.
[00:47:18] Now sometimes the insurance
[00:47:20] is sold through the antique mall
[00:47:22] or it could be something
[00:47:23] where you have to find
[00:47:26] an independent insurance company
[00:47:29] or something like that.
[00:47:32] So you can insure your items
[00:47:33] especially if they're high value, you know.
[00:47:37] I mean, yeah, I would.
[00:47:39] If you have pieces that you're selling
[00:47:41] for hundreds or thousands of dollars,
[00:47:43] I think insurance would definitely be a good idea.
[00:47:48] Okay, let's move on to point number 12.
[00:47:52] And this is something that I did
[00:47:55] and I had a lot of fun with it.
[00:47:57] I had a lot of success with it
[00:47:59] and that was promoting my antique mall space
[00:48:01] on social media.
[00:48:03] Now on YouTube,
[00:48:06] I did a whole series about
[00:48:10] selling my jewelry in an antique mall
[00:48:12] and I showed the antique mall,
[00:48:15] I showed the case that I had my jewelry in,
[00:48:18] and I showed the setup
[00:48:20] of how I had everything arranged in there
[00:48:22] and it was a lot of fun.
[00:48:23] And because of those videos,
[00:48:25] I actually had people messaging me
[00:48:28] and asking where the antique mall was,
[00:48:31] what my space number was
[00:48:32] because they wanted to come shop my case.
[00:48:35] And so using social media is a great way
[00:48:39] to attract buyers to your items,
[00:48:42] not only locally,
[00:48:44] but also people who may be visiting the area, right?
[00:48:47] Because I live in Las Vegas
[00:48:49] and so a lot of people visit Las Vegas
[00:48:51] throughout the year for whatever reason.
[00:48:54] And because my antique mall
[00:48:56] is actually located on the south end of the strip,
[00:49:00] you'd be surprised.
[00:49:01] I was actually surprised
[00:49:04] how many people asked me
[00:49:07] where my antique mall was
[00:49:08] and they wanted to come shop,
[00:49:10] which I thought was amazing and wonderful.
[00:49:14] So use social media,
[00:49:16] especially locally,
[00:49:17] you know, if you have a Facebook page
[00:49:19] for your business or something like that
[00:49:21] to promote your antique mall setup.
[00:49:25] All right, use social media platforms
[00:49:27] to showcase the items in your booth.
[00:49:29] This can draw buyers in
[00:49:31] to visit the mall specifically
[00:49:33] to see your collection like they did with me.
[00:49:36] And this also gives you an opportunity
[00:49:38] to engage with customers on social media
[00:49:40] by posting about brand new items,
[00:49:43] maybe sharing some stories about the jewelry
[00:49:46] and maybe announcing when you will be
[00:49:48] at the antique mall.
[00:49:50] So if someone wants to meet you
[00:49:52] or if someone wants to ask you questions in person.
[00:49:55] Now, of course, you're going to have to do
[00:49:56] whatever you are comfortable with.
[00:49:58] I'm not saying you have to do this,
[00:50:00] but it's a fun and free way to get people
[00:50:06] to your items or to your booth
[00:50:09] or to buy whatever it is you're selling.
[00:50:13] Okay, so just think about it,
[00:50:14] have fun with it,
[00:50:16] do what you're comfortable with
[00:50:18] and, you know,
[00:50:21] it's just a really great way
[00:50:24] to show up for yourself
[00:50:25] and for your business.
[00:50:27] But again, do what you're comfortable with
[00:50:30] and don't stress if that's not something,
[00:50:34] if that's not something you want to do.
[00:50:36] But it's just an idea
[00:50:37] that I wanted to throw out there.
[00:50:41] All right, so my last point
[00:50:42] about selling jewelry in antique malls
[00:50:46] is updating your stock frequently.
[00:50:50] All right, you really want to refresh
[00:50:51] your inventory as often as you can.
[00:50:53] Now, ideally, you want to do this once a week,
[00:50:57] but sometimes that's not always possible.
[00:51:00] But what I have learned
[00:51:02] and what has given me the best experience
[00:51:04] and the most sales
[00:51:06] was refreshing my inventory
[00:51:08] as frequently as I could.
[00:51:10] Now, sometimes I was able to do that
[00:51:12] two or three times a week
[00:51:14] because when I was selling those jewelry bags,
[00:51:16] they would sell almost immediately
[00:51:18] as soon as I put them in
[00:51:19] and so I would have to come back
[00:51:21] the next day or so
[00:51:22] to refresh or to restock.
[00:51:25] But I would say for the most part,
[00:51:27] once a week is ideal.
[00:51:31] Even if you don't have anything new per se
[00:51:34] to add to your inventory,
[00:51:37] like I said, just refreshing and rearranging
[00:51:40] will do so much to keep your displays
[00:51:45] fresh, interesting, attractive, engaging.
[00:51:51] Attractive, engaging.
[00:51:54] Okay, and not only that,
[00:51:56] but sometimes you won't notice something
[00:52:00] until you come back a second or third time.
[00:52:03] You know, like sometimes
[00:52:05] you'll notice that,
[00:52:08] oh, you know, people really like this
[00:52:11] or some stuff gets moved around.
[00:52:13] So that kind of tells you,
[00:52:14] okay, people are looking at this,
[00:52:16] but maybe for whatever reason,
[00:52:17] they're not buying it.
[00:52:19] Maybe the price needs to be reworked
[00:52:21] or maybe we have to explain
[00:52:24] how you can use this
[00:52:25] or how you can wear this
[00:52:26] or things like that.
[00:52:27] There's just little nuances that you,
[00:52:30] the more often that you pay attention
[00:52:31] to your booth,
[00:52:32] you will pick up on these things.
[00:52:35] And sometimes too,
[00:52:38] other vendors, you know,
[00:52:39] the more they see you,
[00:52:41] they will chime in and let you know,
[00:52:43] oh, you know, somebody asked me
[00:52:44] about your booth or somebody,
[00:52:45] I saw people looking at this
[00:52:48] and they had some questions or,
[00:52:49] you know, whatever.
[00:52:51] So this is another reason too,
[00:52:54] why you want to make sure
[00:52:55] your antique mall is not too far
[00:52:57] from your house because
[00:52:58] you want to be there often, right?
[00:53:01] It's not just something where you set it up
[00:53:03] and then you come in once a month.
[00:53:05] No, not at all.
[00:53:06] You want to be there.
[00:53:07] Like I said, bare minimum,
[00:53:09] at least once a week.
[00:53:11] And so that's another thing
[00:53:12] you have to take into account
[00:53:14] when you do sell in an antique mall.
[00:53:16] How much time do you have to dedicate
[00:53:19] to working the antique mall
[00:53:22] part of your business?
[00:53:23] Because it's not a set it and forget it.
[00:53:25] It is something that is very hands-on.
[00:53:30] And so it's not just about,
[00:53:33] it's not just about working the space,
[00:53:37] but it's also prepping the items.
[00:53:39] You know, you have to tag the items.
[00:53:42] You may have to bundle certain items.
[00:53:44] You may need to package certain items.
[00:53:47] So the prep also takes a long time too.
[00:53:50] At least that's what I found,
[00:53:51] which I didn't really take into consideration
[00:53:54] when I did the antique mall thing
[00:53:56] because I didn't realize how much time
[00:53:59] it was taking me to tag
[00:54:01] each individual jewelry piece.
[00:54:04] And then if I ran a sale,
[00:54:08] you know, sometimes you would have to do
[00:54:10] the markdown price on the individual tags as well.
[00:54:14] Now luckily I didn't have to do that
[00:54:16] because if I just had a 30% off sale,
[00:54:20] I just told the front that,
[00:54:22] hey, I'm running a 30% off sale on these items.
[00:54:25] And then the front would, you know,
[00:54:27] make sure that the buyer got 30% off,
[00:54:29] whatever it was, or maybe it was everything,
[00:54:31] you know, just depending on what kind of sale
[00:54:33] or promotion I was running.
[00:54:36] Okay, so this is a lot.
[00:54:39] We covered a lot in this episode,
[00:54:42] but I hope it helps you
[00:54:43] if you are considering selling your jewelry
[00:54:46] in an antique mall.
[00:54:47] I did love it.
[00:54:49] And right now I'm actually not selling
[00:54:51] my jewelry in an antique mall.
[00:54:53] I actually just moved out last month
[00:54:55] because summer is kind of a slow time
[00:55:00] as it relates to sales there.
[00:55:02] And I really want to focus more
[00:55:04] on doing my live selling right now.
[00:55:07] And one of the challenges I had
[00:55:10] was just being able to keep up
[00:55:12] with the inventory demand for the antique mall
[00:55:15] because remember I do live jewelry sales
[00:55:19] every week.
[00:55:21] And so I go through a lot of inventory that way.
[00:55:24] And so it was really hard to maintain
[00:55:26] the inventory levels for live selling
[00:55:31] and my antique mall.
[00:55:33] So right now I am not selling in an antique mall,
[00:55:36] but I literally just moved out last month.
[00:55:39] So all of this information is still fresh in my mind.
[00:55:43] And you know what?
[00:55:44] I may go back to selling in an antique mall
[00:55:47] at some point, maybe in the fall
[00:55:50] because that's a really good time.
[00:55:53] At least from my experience,
[00:55:55] it was a really good time
[00:55:57] to have jewelry items in an antique mall.
[00:55:59] And there's also a lot of fall events here
[00:56:03] in Las Vegas that brings a lot of foot traffic in.
[00:56:06] So who knows?
[00:56:07] Who knows what I'll do?
[00:56:09] But I will sell in an antique mall again
[00:56:13] just because I like it so much.
[00:56:15] But I probably will have to really figure out
[00:56:19] a new inventory strategy
[00:56:21] just so I can keep up the amount of inventory
[00:56:25] that I need to keep the antique mall stocked
[00:56:31] at least to the levels that I think it needs to be.
[00:56:36] All right, so let me know
[00:56:39] if you have ever sold jewelry in an antique mall
[00:56:42] or is it something that you are considering right now?
[00:56:45] I think it's fun.
[00:56:46] But like I said, there are some things to keep in mind
[00:56:49] because there are some challenges
[00:56:52] as it relates to selling your jewelry this way as well.
[00:56:56] So leave me a comment.
[00:56:58] Let me know your experience.
[00:56:59] I would love to read your feedback.
[00:57:02] And if you have any questions,
[00:57:04] please drop those in the comments below as well.
[00:57:07] And I will do my best to help you
[00:57:10] and to support you in any way I can.
[00:57:15] All right, I want to thank you so much
[00:57:17] for listening to this episode
[00:57:19] and spending this time with me.
[00:57:21] I'll check in with you again really soon.
[00:58:07] Bye.
